Choose your favorite character among Amy, Bella and Claire.

In artificially created encounters, people are judged by their appearance, age, place of origin, occupation, school etc. This aspect is especially apparent in dating apps. After determining whether the person’s information satisfies your criteria and purpose, you make a decision with a simple act of clicking right or left.

Users of dating apps can think of themselves as characters and they can also judge other people as characters . And if they find someone who can satisfy their purpose, they meet the person in person. People’s relationship in dating apps is in between human relationships and games. In reality, people act at a point that does not affect their reputation and position, but in the apps, achieving their goals is the main focus, so they easily ask rude questions or become each other’s tools to satisfy their desires. Having relationships like breaking a game stage, cutting them off in an easy way called ‘blocking’ when they get bored of that, repeat the same behavior with others, or delete the apps.

Through “Choose Your Favorite Character,” the artist wants to talk about attitudes and phenomena in volatile human relationships. The artist pays attention to the phenomenon of consuming relationships with characters or stages that need to be targeted once, and introduces a love simulation game format to induce the audience to feel the Guilty pleasure. Through the medium of games, the audience can act rudely without feeling guilty, but the character also optionally reveals itself or changes its attitude. While playing the game, the audience’s goal is to target the character, but after the game is over, they realize that the relationship doesn’t hit them hard and that they’re also consumed as characters. By experiencing similar love and separation created by their own choice, it shows a vain relationship that consumes each other like a game and is easily forgotten.
