Exhibition Description

What happened to the cat that was trapped in the neon sign in front of Euljiro 3-ga Station? The story of the street cats and the residents living in Eulji-ro, Seoul, takes place in Gasamrojieul.

Kim Mango and 26sundegree will hold an exhibition titled “Know about goyang-ee” at Gasamrojieul in the end of May in which the number of stray cats increase, the exhibition dedicated to the coexistence of street cats and residents. The artists’ works based on memories of an accident that occurred to the street cats during an exhibition at Gasamrojieul in early May, 2020. Kim Mango interviewed the residents in Euljiro, how they think about the accident and made art installations at Gasamrojieul. He also asks questions about our perception of street cats through the installation work that audience can touch. Audience can also see the small stories of the residents living in Eulji-ro. Through this exhibition, the artists are going to discuss issues such as prejudice against stray cats, changes in people’s perception of animal rights, and disputes with residents.

Admission to the exhibition is free of charge, and there is also a voluntary donation box for street cat rescue. The artists will donate some of the sales revenue to the street cat rescue.
