No-Show
Exhibition Description
“No-Show” is the first solo show by Australian overseas adoptee artist Meg O’Shea, who makes mostly autobigoraphical comics and self-publishes zines.
The title “No-Show” refers to both the English phrase for someone who fails to be present for a commitment and Meg’s approach to comic and zine making - initiating intimate communication at a safe distance.
Zines:
The Wolves of King St (2014): Memories of nights out with former friends, and one of the first proper zines I made.
Some Girls (2016): Stories of four girls I have known.
Dog (2018): Advice from a psychologist.
All Day (2015): A short comic experiment you can read forever.
Untitled (2019): Investigating everyday performance in Korea and Australia for a Crazy Multiply show.
Hotness scale (2018): A handy guide.
자경 (2019): Thoughts on names.
Retired Fantasies (2018): A list of old aspirations.
**** (2018): Fuck.
Animation:
The End (2020): A self-contradictory internal monologue about making things, humourously centred on the English slang phrase of being “up yourself” (being arrogant).
Diary comics (on walls):
Some comics of thoughts, feelings and events from the past year of living in Korea.
Dates
May 8 til May 20, 2020.
